Kremlin Bar is located at street level on Canberra’s main drag, Northbourne Avenue. Enjoy a vodka martini, stirred or shaken, and be sure to bring your shoe phone. Hip young things looking to relax with friends over a cool cocktail should make their way to Kremlin Bar and immerse themselves in the plush soviet era red of this busy nightspot. Velvet curtains, crystal chandeliers, dark polished floors and gold leaved furniture all add to the eastern-bloc mystique, and the massive mural on the wall gives a nod to socialist propaganda posters of a now lost era. Russian beers and vodka are the drinks of choice, as is the extensive list of cocktails, mixed expertly by the smartly uniformed staff. Music is smooth and chilled on weeknights, to complement Kremlin Kocktails on Wednesdays or Kremlin Happy Hour on Fridays. A regular procession of locally known DJs keep this funky split level space more upbeat on Saturday nights with Kremlin Spin. With easy access and within walking distance of most of the northside’s hotels, Kremlin Bar is well worth a visit to meet some groovy locals, or just to confirm that it’s better to be red than dead.
